CORDOVA-POC has been removed from App Store

Image
Idea behind App Five years ago  Cordova POC landed on App Store . I developed this App firstly to help me to dealt with hybrid mobile programming, afterwards I has evolved its concept give it a more marketing meaning as state below:   Cordova-POC helps to do demo of your Cordova app to customer on-the-fly. Idea is to connect multiple sources (online & offline) from which download HTML5 application’s bundle. You can package your demo app as zip file and put it on Dropbox or develop it directly on JSFiddle downloading it when you ready. Moreover Cordova-POC collects the deployed applications, providing a personal applications gallery, always ready to run. At that time was a pretty innovative idea, currently there are  a lot of app that allow to achieve similar goals. However I've tried to keep such App updated with major Cordova releases in particular for the IOS version that gained hundreds of downloads (objectively not so many but a good achievement for ...

CORDOVA POC 1.6 App has been released

Image
What's new in 1.6  In this new IOS release, I've updated App to support version 5.0.0 of Cordova  ( IOS platform 3.8.0) Moreover, in this release, I've added a new feature particularly useful for who would like test the appearance of an application during development, in fact Cordova POC now is able to connect, directly, to the developer's work station  Connect The screenshot on the left shows the connect icon. Tap on it for connecting to a remote web server Settings The screenshot on the left shows the  settings  icon. Tap on it for update settings The screenshot on the right shows the  settings  dialog where you can update settings. Below a short video  that shows how it works Conclusion I hope that Cordova POC, and in particular this new feature, could help your work. So .... enjoy Cordova POC ( see it on App Store )  ( see it on Google Play )

CORDOVA POC 1.5 for IOS has been released on App Store

Image
What's new On the Feb 14, a GITHUB user  opened the  issue29 on the cordova-poc project that stated Dropbox.com cannot be reached in China Mainland. I think it is necessary to add support for Apple iCloud or Microsoft OneDrive so cordova-poc can be used inside China.Thanks. I didn't know, so i've worked on IOS app to introduce support for iCloud Drive  and finally the r elease 1.5 has been released on App Store How to use Setup iCloud It's pretty straightforward, it's enough to create a folder in your iCloud Drive named cordova-poc and put your cordova's app as zip archive in it. Enable iCloud on Device To access to iCloud service from Device you have to enable it. It is possible from settings panel following the  " get iCloud up and running on your iOS device in a few easy steps " a simple guide from Apple Use ICloud from Cordova Poc Once accomplished tasks above, run Codova Poc app goes in iCloud tab and will appear the view...

CORDOVA POC 1.3.1 for IOS has been released on App Store

why a release so time shortly ? After release 1.3.0 of  Cordova-POC    I have had some feedbacks about crash of application in various scenarios such as : At startup  Opening the showcase  Opening the JSFiddle tab On my devices, 4S+7.1.1/IPAD2+7.1.1, everything went well but the problem seemed happen only on 5s devices. After an investigation I have found the problem that was related to   Apache Cordova  implementation. Fortunately there was available also a  FIX  (Cordova 3.5.0 includes it by default).  I've applied such fix, tested and submitted the new 1.3.1 release of  Cordova-POC  to App Store.  Hope this release will solve all previous problems, while for the next release, the 1.4.0,  i've planned to add push support and a new view to show up the device log (for debug purpose) Thanks for patience and enjoy this new release of  Cordova-POC

The XCODE's Plugins to work with COCOAPODS

Image
Introduction As explained in   COCOAPODS: a dependency manager for IOS development  , Cocoapods has became the de-facto standard for IOS development. As consequence of that, from Open Source's world are coming out several Xcode plugins to make easy to work with Cocoapods In this article i briefly describe the plugins that i've tested during my IOS development work CocoaPodUI  This Plugin provides a UI that allows to search, select & install pods in graphical way. In particular is  very handy the searching feature and it is well-designed the provided way to  keeping pod's versions under control. CocoaPodUI popup Installation Open and build CocoaPodUI project, it will be installed automatically. Uninstall Just remove CocoaPodUI.xcplugin from ~/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins Source : https://github.com/Galeas/CocoaPodUI CocoaPods for Xcode  This plugin provides  a complete set of...

CORDOVA POC has landed on App Store

What's the need When I started to develop mobile app, very soon I dealt with the ' porting ' dilemma I gave a look to HTML5 approach through  Cordova / Phonegap   project, but not always, the HTML5 stuff, seemed working as expected and this discouraged me to go in deep. Then I worked on native stuff and in the same time I followed the HTML5/mobile evolution When I found out services as  JSFiddle  and  Codepen.io  and I discovered the amount of HTML5's stuff already done and ready to use, I reviewed my mobile strategy and I've embraced the  mixed model  that is join native with HTML5. Why I thought to it? This great amount of the HTML5 snippets,  raised me an issue:  I want see them in action on mobile, quickly & easily,  and I want understand how them will appear inside a Cordova view. Even if setup a Cordova app using  cordova-cli  is pretty straightforward, there was the problem to setup a...

JAVASCRIPT REBORN: Node.js, Nashorn, JavaScriptCore

JavaScript: A language for HTML into Browser (?) JavaScript language has been considered for long time, strictly joined both with HTML and Internet Browsers. First with DHTML then with AJAX and finally with HTML5  javascript has rapidly became wide used into web programming land. But, as said, JavaScript was less famous as programming language for business or concerning whatever stuff outside the browser.  Concerning my experience, i remember that i used JavaScript, out of Browser, for develop web app in Microsoft Active Server Page (long time ago) using JScript  (Microsoft's implementation of ECMAScript ) and other small projects using   Mozilla Rhino  2012, JavaScript reborn Now seems that JavaScript is reborn as a "common purpose" programming language, breaking definitely the browser's borders.  Throughout 2012, JavaScript seems to be solving problems across the industry, causing some justifiable hype across a number of libraries and f...

COCOAPODS: a dependency manager for IOS development

Image
IOS - Dependency Management Problem  During my IOS development experience i've immediately dealt with the "dependencies management" problem. Firstly, my needs were to share code among projects and the only way that i found out was to build "static link libraries" that are files with ".a" extension also because IOS doesn't support dynamic link ones. But very soon i understood that building static libraries, as well as being a little bit complicated, was not the better way to manage project's dependencies. This because, often, my IOS projects were developed, reusing a bunch of code gathered by open source software and not all (almost no one) were distributed/packaged as static library, but provides just source code So my short-term strategy was to copy&paste the code, coming in from third party projects, directly into my project. this strategy seemed working well until i had to deal with maintenance and bug fixing because it ...

NetBeans support for JavaFX for iOS is out!

I while ago i heard about the possibility to build native IOS application using Java Trying to go in deep of this topic i found out the amazing project:   ROBOVM I started to test it  developing a Proof of concept   robovm-jsfiddle-javafx-app   available on Github The amazing thing was the possibility to bring "native javaFx app" to "native IOS app" keeping the L&F All looked very promising ... but unofficial and not suggested for production mode. But now i find out an article from Oracle Blog - Netbeans support for JavaFX for IOS is out!   and  ... my thought is : Are we ready to develop a new generation of IOS app javaFX-aware?  I'll stay on track ....
