PlantText: The new "Online" UML Editor powered by PlantUML

At beginning "PlantUML Server"

As states in a previous article "PlantUML - a DSL for creating UML Diagrams",  PlantUML is a great way to create & share  UML diagrams quickly & easily.

PlantUML already provided a sort of "cloud solution" named "PlantUML Server"  which was mostly a kind of "Proof Of Concept"  to give an idea of its functionalities

And finally "PlantText"

Currently Arwen Vaughan has released "PlantText" completing the PlantUML "cloud solution"
PlantText is a text-based tool for quickly creating clear UML diagrams that can be compared, versioned, and managed.
Simply type PlantUML language into the editor and refresh the screen to produce a professional diagram. Save, export, or copy the image for use in your requirements or design documents.

Features

PlantText provides a complete WYSIWYG PlantUML editor and other interesting features like:

  1. Import/Export files
  2. Settings of Theme/Bindings/Font Size
  3. Dock & Drag Mode
  4. Tips
In particular, there are also available a complete set of samples very useful for the "getting started" (see image below)

The video below show such features

Conclusion

Currently PlantText is released in beta version but seems enough stable for productive usage

So ... enjoy this great way to write & share UML diagrams.

  1. The blog post is great! Thank you for taking the time to talk about PlantText. One quick correction though. PlantText.com itself was not built by the PlantUML team...although it is only possible because of the massive amount of work that team has done.

    2. No problem, thank you for fixing it. Me and my partner on the project (Steven Nichols) are excited and having a lot of fun with it. We are looking into doing PlantUML to Code and Code to PlantUML conversions next. I hope it helps some people out. Anyway, great blog and thanks again for the great post.
